Ryan McMaken's critique of Keynes' theory is about planning from the top down. McMaken opposes Keynes' belief that the government is the solution. The idea is that the government needs to step into action. This results in the government making restrictions either practically or literally for where individuals can step into action. The central planning of Keynes' is what McMaken critiques. He believes that it does not improve the problems of an economy. His answer to the question is about how things appear. People see Keynes' theory and it looks attractive. Politicians make use of what looks attractive and try to shift focus to what looks or seems good for the individual so that they are reelected. For many people McMaken's argument is a losing one because of the lack of responsibility that Keynes' theory allows.
