Art Class/Art Room Expectations
Welcome to Art! 1. Student will be expected to manage own art projects, supplies and clean up after oneself daily. 2. Student is expected to care for art room, and to be a good steward of the tools and materials everyday! Please clean your own supplies and keep your supplies in your storage bin. Leave your table/workspace clean for the next student. 3. Student is expected to be self controlled during the regular class period and use time wisely during class, working efficiently. If student is absent, he or she is expected to find out what work was missed and make up that work in a reasonable time. (# of days absent plus 1) Also, e-learning days there will be assignments on Moodle. Make sure you are enrolled in my class or you won't see the assignments fully. 4. Student is expected to be respectful to the teacher and to others in the classroom by quietly focusing on the instructions being given and using their class time efficiently. Art is not a study hall :). If all artwork assignments for the week are completed student may use period for other school work. 5. Student is expected complete their weekly sketchbook assignments and turn in major projects by the given due date. (5pt. penalty per day for major projects turned in past the due date.) 6. Student is expected to leave all art projects at the school in their storage bins and folders for the duration of the semester(s) for use in art displays/Fine Arts programs. 7. Student will be expected to take all art projects home @ the end of the semester(s). 8. Student is expected to clean out their own personal storage area(s) at the end of the semester. 9.No cell phones in class, no gaming, no airpods, no apple watchiness. Get a good book, draw, look to see if extra credit is available to fill any extra time or try harder on your art assignment (seek advice/wise counsel from your art teacher on how to improve on your artwork) If you are finished with your art assignments you may do homework from another class but not the other way around.
Grading for art class is as follows:
60% of your grade :major projects
,25% sketchbook assignments, weekly 15% of your grade :participation, which is a daily grade based on art room conduct, supply stewardship, time management and project progress.
Extra Credit is available and can be used towards grade deficits!
This will now only be available spontaneously, so don't count on it, but look for it! Artwork is graded on effort not outcome. Success and failure are both good teachers!! :)

Effort level is monitored daily and recorded as your participation grade which will help determine the grade you receive for your project. (2 pts. per day (x 5days)= 10 pts. per week. Participation point deductions represent a failure to follow one or more of the above expectations for classroom behavior.
-What you can expect in your Middle School,2D & 3D, or Art & Architecture ART CLASS:
Students in all classes will work with a variety of mediums and practice various artistic techniques learned in class. Educational videos and websites will be used for learning about artists and art movements.
-Art and Architecture: Student projects and media follow the culture/time period you are studying with Mr. Hyde. You will also engage in sketch-noting when we watch educational/informational videos.
In addition there will be a sign up sheet for Art Club if you want to have fun making art in a more social environment. Art club is a great place to get more art in your life and provides valuable services to the community, the church, and the school (especially the theater department)(Art Club is for High School students only)

I am looking for strong effort and participation, not perfection! Mistakes allowed! The joy is in the journey friends.
