Chapter 1 Response

My speech craft role model is Sophia Paris. She spoke in the chapel last year, and I enjoyed her tone, lack of speech clutter, and preparedness. I don't know Sophia personally, but I remember thinking how smoothly her speech in chapel was and how she seemed prepared for what she was going to say. She engaged the audience by having a good deal of emotion in her words and a passion for her message. She had little, if any, vocal clutter and knew her audience well. She did not lose my attention due to any distractions like fiddling or moving around. Because of her ability to engage the audience well, limit vocal clutter, and limit distractions, Sophia Paris is my speech craft role model.

I fully agree. I'm so glad you recalled her speech to my memory because I thought the same things as she spoke in chapel last year. I especially appreciate that you mentioned her lack of speech clutter because she excelled at that by being collected and pausing rather than saying "um".
