External Noise

External Noise

I am always bothered the most by external noise. The most bothersome are loud air conditioning units and when people are talking and it is no longer words that I hear, but one loud mumbling. These often happen not when I am actually giving a speech, but when I am praying. I often find myself putting my hands on my face to act like blinders for a horse. This works for me to some degree but cannot fully prevent myself from being distracted. I understand that this tactic would not work if I were to speak to a group of people, but in that circumstance people are generally quiet.

I agree with this Josiah. External noise distract me the most as well. Great examples of external noises that affect you.

Yes so true, the loud air conditioning units are one of the biggest distractions for me too.

That is very understandable. I know that feeling when it's hard to focus on praying when others are around. Maybe that is why the Bible talks about praying in a quiet space where nobody is around. Matthew 6:6 explicitly talks about this.
