The best speeches will always be the ones that are fueled by emotion. I believe this is because you know that the speaker is invested in their topic that it is stirring emotions, and doing the same for the audience. I think a line is crossed if you just stand up on stage and throw facts at your audience they will not be responsive to what you have to say. The most powerful form of emotion is when it is backed up with facts. The speaker by doing this makes an appeal to logos, pathos, and usually ethos if the source is credible. A fantastic example of this is MLK and his famous speech which was delivered with so much emotion.

I agree!! Speeches that come from emotion always have more of an impact on me.

I like how you said that the most powerful form of emotion is when it is backed up with facts. Emotion without facts can feel like there is no direction in a speech and it's just doing everything you can to have the audience agree with you.

this is very good Jonathan. I would also personally agree that the best speeches focus in on emotion more.

I completely agree. The emotion of the speech pulls you in and then when it is backed up with facts it makes the speech more credible.

I would agree. Speeches that are fueled by emotion are usually better than those with only facts. I think the audience would be more responsive if you include emotion.

Agreed, emotion is an absolute must in a speech. And you mentioned that you also need facts too, as your reputation would be greatly diminished if you just had feelings and no logic in your speech.
