Feelings and Logic

In public speaking, the feelings of your audience are just as important as the logic that you are presenting to them. When you focus on feelings, you can allow for your audience to draw a deeper connection with your speech. In the same way, you want to make sure that you're giving them information that will stick. You have crossed the line if your speech is only about feelings or if it's only about logic. You need to be aware of the audience disposition, the way that the audience feels about you, your topic, and the occasion that you're speaking for. In order to strike a balance between the two, you should give your audience the facts in a compelling and respectful way that will allow them to feel your speech at a more in depth level.

I agree about giving them information that will stick. I often feel like sometimes I'll walk away from listening to a speech and not feeling like I got anything from it. It's always fun when you learn something new, especially when it's over an important topic!

I like that you used the words compelling and respectful, it shows that you care about your audience, but also care about your cause.

I love the way you worded this! It definitely is important to allow them to feel our speech.
