Being logical

Being logical

I will be honest, I know that using logic is mostly the right way to approach decision making and analysis in my life, but I know I rely on my own feelings more than I do logic. I think that finding the right balance takes exposure to using both for a little. If you approach everything logical, you might miss critical moments of a feeling you had to suppress, that turned out to be correct. For example, you feel like you should swing at the next pitch, but your coach told you not to. I think that learning how one feels in certain situations and how they respond to those feelings is just as important as using logical thinking. Everyone who uses logical thinking primarily do get along better and understand each other better, but also have trouble with deeper connections.

I have the same problem too. Emotions have had a tendency to override what I know and caused me to make some not so awesome decisions.

Unfortunately, I think most people do this same thing. It is super easy to fall into a trap of focusing on your own feelings or other people's feelings. You're not alone in this and just takes practice and preparation.

I really like your baseball analogy because it demonstrates very strongly the effect that emotions or feelings can have on our decisions that should be strictly logical.

I think that's an interesting take that I didn't think about. Usually I wouldn't say emotions are "right" because it's just something you feel, not totally based in logic. This made me think more deeply about using emotions in speech and how they can be justified.
