Of all the types of noise I find the most distracting or disrupting of the noise to be external noise. One of the reason I find external noise to be far more disruptive and distracting is I am not the only one hearing it or dealing with it; external noise like coughs, rain, or sirens distract other an myself from what I speak. Another reason I find external noise to be worse is it is almost completely outside of my control and there is nothing I can do to stop it. The most disruptive external noise typically will be weather or other people conversing in adjacent rooms.
