I think bias is unavoidable. I think people can respect other people's positions, but every person is going to have a natural inclination towards one thing. Some bias is bad, especially when it is discriminatory, but not all discriminatory bias is explicit. This reminds me of a video I watched talking about implicit bias in the movie, Zootopia. Judy the rabbit had an implicit bias toward predators, but she never saw it that way, until Nick the fox showed her that she did, and she changed her bias against predators. This shows that many of us aren’t even aware of the biases we have and whether or not they are harmful to others. Bias is something every person has, but it’s important to figure out whether that bias is harmful to others.
I love your connection to a Disney film! I definitely agree that bias is simply part of being human and that everyone has a bias whether we know it or not. I thought it was helpful that you used "implicit bias"; it cleared up how bias can be present but not realized.
