Although bias is typically looked down upon, there are some cases where it is necessary. For instance, you want to be biased towards Christianity, because we believe that we need to be more Christ-like; which includes not being of the world, or in other words, not being sinful. In other cases, however, you need to avoid it at all costs because you want to make sure that you aren’t distorting any truth or evidence against something. As another example, you have a said opinion about homework, and that it is harmful to students. You can show any evidence that brings light to the issue, but you have to have at least some of the opposing views, so the audience will see what you are trying to say and still have the ability to trust what you are saying because you also brought information about the opposing viewpoints. While you may think being biased cannot be avoided, however it is quite possible to avoid it completely, especially if you bring the opposing sides’ arguments so you can then explain why they are wrong or partially correct or even right about the situation and be applauding their view on the said obstacle.
