"The great PowerPoint debate" references the controversy about whether slideshows are useful or not. In my opinion, I believe that slideshows are very beneficial when it comes to presentations. I think that it is very easy to dose off while listening to a speech, but slideshows are a helpful tactic to keep the listener engaged. While I believe that they are helpful, there needs to be some conditions. It is important to make sure the slides are not over complicated or over cluttered. If the slides are overwhelming, the audience won't comprehend the points/argument you are trying to make. A clear and concise slideshow is the perfect way to draw the audience in and keep them entertained while also keeping them present.
