I think that PowerPoints are a great asset to add to your presentation. In a society that is increasingly attention deficit, and needs visuals more than just hearing, PowerPoints are a great way to make sure the audience is recieving what you are trying to say. I do not think that they are distracting, but instead they can help add to the audience's experience and what they learn from it.
