Chapter 11 Response

My position on the debate is that slides are overall very useful for the audience. The fact that we are living in a media-centric era doesn't determine the usefulness of the slideware. Slideware isn't the only form of presentation aid and other things such as props, pictures, handouts are also very useful when creating a speech to maintain the audiences' focus. I don't think the audience should expect slides and I agree that an audience shouldn't be dependent on a slideshow, but it is a very useful tool for the audience to retain and understand the information better. I don't believe it is a bad thing to evolve the way we learn by implementing other resources for better understanding.

I totally agree with you! Slides help me as the speaker be able to provide visual aid and as the audience to stay engaged during the speech. I also like how you used a lot of context from the chapter :)

Agreed, we should use slides as a tool; its why they were made. We need to make the effort to make sure our speeches are engaging.

I never thought to think of the slide show being like a prop. That was a good argument for the point of view you were going for. I definitely agree.
