If you are stating a very strong opinion and you are using strong or confident language but you are not holding yourself in a confident way then that would leave the audience confused. They may even discredit your words because you did not communicate with your body language that you were confident in your point. The impact of this would be people taking you less seriously.

I agree with you! I never thought about people discrediting work because of body language, that was good!

That is an excellent way to explain the contradiction. It totally confuses the audience and discourages their confidence in you and your speech. Great job!

Yes, I totally agree. I love it when speakers show confidence because it shows they actually care. Listening to people that actually care are easier to listen to, rather than people who don't really care about their topic.

I never thought about the Confidence aspect of speeches. Confidence is a very important thing to exert during a speech, even if you don't feel very confident.

I definitely agree. You can confuse an audience when you are saying one thing but showing another.

This is a very good point! I like how you gave an example of what this could look like.

Your point about the audience discrediting the speaker's information is very valid. Although it shouldn't necessarily happen, in our society I think people are critical and looking for a reason to discredit someone especially someone they disagree with.
