Chapter 13 Response

A celebratory speech that I have witnessed was a celebration of life speech at my family friend's funeral. I consider it a celebratory speech because it was focused around the man's life, and the fact that he is now with Jesus. He battled cancer for about 4 years, so his death did not come as a surprise. I would say that the audience's expectation was that his life was honored and celebrated and I think the speech did exactly that, so I think it was a success. The speaker spent a lot of time talking about different areas of his life; work, coaching, family, and others, and how he made a positive impact in all of those areas. The speech that was given properly celebrated his life, and caused the audience to reflect on their own lives, just like a eulogy is supposed to do.

What a great example of a celebratory speech. Honoring everything that he did in his life is a great way to go about a celebratory speech.

I like that you mentioned how a funeral had more of a celebratory speech. I have experienced a speech like that as well.

What a great response! I’m sorry he passed. This really explains well how celebratory speeches can be used!
