Price Control

Price Control

I very much also believe that these price controls are horrendous for New York, and makes the mayor look like an idiot. The minimum wage being raised by almost 14 dollars would create a COVID - like situation with availability of businesses. What I mean by that, is the number of employees would always be less than previous within terms of availability, like how Covid removed the majority of the workforce from society. There would be no incentive to hire anyone as it would not make any monetary sense, and owners of businesses could just simply fire those who they couldn't afford to pay. And the rent freeze is not any better, forcing a ceiling on rent also forces quality to decrease within all housing in New York. Without any opportunity to increase revenue, landlords have no ability to improve upon what they already have. They have no incentive to even want to increase the quality of the apartments because it would not give them any financial gain. The policies of the New York mayor are not at all thought through, and don't have the public in mind.

I totally agree with your assessment. Socialism has never worked, and it never will work. Only someone who is uneducated would try and make socialism work. Increasing the minimum wage would cause small business to have to end and rent freezing would cause the supply of stabilized units to fall because the landlords won't be able to take care of the buildings.
