The AMA, American Medical Association, increases the cost both financially and mentally on students pursuing a medical degree. With the increase in cost of schooling in general and the rigor of the course causes desiring students to drop out or not enter at all. The AMA is doing these things with the intent of weeding out people who are not fully invested to have better quality healthcare and providers. Instead, this course of action actually keeps people from entering into medical school, and overall decreases the amount of people pursuing these occupations. The result of this can also be seen at a more personal level when one can be waiting months for an appointment with a specialized doctor, or even a normal physician in times like flu season.
