1. What group should we measure in order to discover how the middle class is doing in America?

We should measure middle income individuals that are in the middle of their working years not people at the start or end of their careers.

2. Does it make sense to exclude the elderly when trying to measure the progress of the middle class over time?

The elderly skew the data involving the middle class due to the nature of their income and the little amount of money they need to live into their retirement.

3. Why does it matter if the composition of the middle class is changing when trying to assess the performance of the economy?

The middle class is a crucial sector of the united states economy and the better we are able to understand the nature of our own people the better decisions can be made in terms of legislation for the economy. Also understanding that the middle class has grown and expanded allowing for more data to change how companies and the government should respond to changes in markets.
