Tariffs seem like maybe the right thing to do to help America, but in reality presidents and the majority of the government do much more harm than good. Tariffs limit freedom, and we have all seen that the more free a market is, the more it is able to organize itself. It comes back to the problem of knowledge, not one person, like a president, knows how to control and economy.
Yes, both political parties say they are pro-tariffs. This is done as a political stunt though to grab voters. Tariffs on pen and paper and to the normal person can sound like a good idea, but ultimately it brings down the growth of the gov, economy, and country as a whole.
