The person that I would define as my "speech craft role model" is my dad, who is the pastor of my church. I have always enjoyed listening to his messages and sermons on a weekly basis. He puts an immense amount of time and preparation into crafting his sermons. Like we learned in chapter one, research and organization are two very valuable steps in preparing a speech. My dad takes a great amount of time out of his week to sit down and dive into the material. When the time comes for him to deliver his "speeches," he engages the audience with thoughtful Biblical texts and literature, and sometimes even humorous personal anecdotes. He does a great job of making his messages feel conversational and personal. Instead of simply talking to the crowd, he draws them in.
