Chapter 1 Response

When thinking about people who are my speech craft role models, my dad instantly pops into my head. My dad is a pastor and weekly has situations and circumstances where he must present himself publicly. Whether that might be one on one with a member of the church, one on a few in a meeting with the elders, or one on many, preaching the Word on a Sunday morning. My dad will usually use the extraneous method of presenting on Sunday mornings and has done very well to use that technique very effectively and efficiently. I often look to my dad when I have questions or need advice relating to public speaking or presenting. While I love listening to my dad preach or speak, I often find myself enjoying listening to one of our past pastors, Jeff Price. When he presented either in adult Sunday school or from behind the podium he would present in a cool, calm, and collected sense that made listening to him enjoyable and engaging. The strong tone of voice and well used amount of eye contact made himself look confident and in control of what was being said or proclaimed. Both of these speakers are two of my favorites and both I look to when I need tips or have questions revolving around public speaking.

I agree, Hudson, Pastor Lance's preaching style always catches my attention whether it be in chapel, at church, or even just hearing what he knows about a certain Bible story. He makes his message very applicable to his audience and keeps the message interesting the whole time.

I love your dad. I have had the privilege to speak with him and not just be a part of his audience. During conversation he does not ever make me lose interest in the conversation and we have had good discussions together. As an audience member of his he does the same. Although I do not discuss with him as an audience member I still am engaged and interested in the topic of the speech. I did not chose to write about your dad for this discussion, but he is definitely someone I look up to, specifically how I see him speak and for what he says.
