I think it really depends on the depth of the topic you are speaking about. If it's something not that serious, like cats or dogs, then you should talk from your feelings more than facts. A topic like that doesn't really need a bullet point list of facts anyways. But if you are speaking about the death penalty, then you should focus more on the facts because its a more serious topic. If you speak from your feelings, you could get something wrong and that you make you look like you weren't prepared or it could feel attacking to people who have a different view than you. From that, the audience will conduct 'audience disposition' without even knowing. They will either like you and listen closely to the rest of your speech, or they will dislike you and have a negative opinion about you, or they could just end up leaving if it upsets them that much.

This was good Reghan! I loved how you mentioned that it depends on what your topic is. There is definitely a big difference on how you should approach your audience depending on what the topic of your speech is.

I like that you said the balance you use depends on the weight of your topic, which makes a lot of sense and is something I haven't heard a lot of people mention yet.
