Logic is built into the world and how it works. Feeling and emotion are built into people. Naturally people act out of emotion and unnaturally act out of logic. When people see others act purely based on logic it stands out to them. When speaking you want to use pathos, but it is unwise to neglect logic or overuse pathos. People respond to feelings, but that does not mean they respond positively. Often the faces of audience members show you when you have crossed the line between feelings and logic. An example of how to do things poorly would be making a statement about animals and how useful they are both while they are alive and after they die to an audience of vegans. That would disengage some of them and continuing to go back to that point would be an unnecessary crossing of the line.

This is such a great response. The world does work with logic and feelings, but it also works when you're making sure you balance the two.

I love how you separated logic and feelings into those two different categories but connected them back together. I agree that there is a time and a place for each but they can work together well if prepared for and practiced. Love it Jo!

I like the example of the vegans and animals; it helps show how to balance logic and feeling. Good job, Jo, you help me see how not to cross the line and how to speak correctly.
