Balance Between Feelings and Logic

Balance Between Feelings and Logic

To find a balance between feelings and logic in the midst of a speech, I try to make relatable comments that can strike interest in the audience which are based on an overall analysis of the group. Along with that, I believe expressing my feelings to an audience about something that brings on a lot of emotion can attract people to follow along and reflect on themselves as well which opens the conversation to the audience. When these elements are included in a topic of discussion, logic comes alongside it and I can tie in general and commonly known facts as well as credibility. All of this said, however, crossing the line can sometimes look like over-sharing to an audience as well as trying to connect with the audience so much that it causes distraction of the message. These habits tend to lead to less credible speeches along with less logic. Another way that the line can be crossed is if a speaker insults an audience while trying to include feelings and logic. Doing this will, inevitably, turn off an audience. The goal is to balance both feelings and logic to add both ethos and pathos to a speech which draws an audience in, but sometimes it can be taken too far one way or another and lead to a confusing or unpredictable speech.
