I came up on my topic for the opinion speech simply by having done a short impromptu debate on gummy worms vs. gummy bears in government against the ever-so lovely Josiah Smith. Having already spoken out of thin air for about a minute or two about why certain gummy creatures are superior in comparison to others I felt I was able to do the same but with preparation this time for 5 minutes.
I plan on picking similar topics that I feel comfortable taking not very serious in my speech while still providing good information and to keep my audience engaged in what I have to say. I feel that for the other speeches I will be able to do them still on gummy creatures but accommodate my information for the appropriate speech type.
