Chapter 6 Response

I think that bias is almost always unavoidable, but some people do a better job of stepping away from their bias to show all sides of a topic than others. I don't think bias is always bad because sometimes bias comes from personal experiences that taught us something really important and it is good to have that viewpoint. It is just important that your bus doesn't blind you to all other views and perspectives.

I agree! Being biased isn't bad and it also does feel unavoidable.

I agree Faye. Bias can shift our writings, speeches and even our normal interactions that we have with people. I also agree that it's super important to find and use your viewpoints.

I agree. It does show both sides of the topic, but you have to have an open mind and heart, and it usually does come from experience.

I agree that sometimes bias can be okay! Bias can definitely add to someone's topic, especially if it is a personal experience like you stated. I also like how you said that it is important to not let bias cover other view points.

I definitely agree with this as well. I think it's important to look at other views, but it isn't a bad thing to have your own bias because it might come from personal experience.

I love your word choice of being blind. That is a good self reflection question for us to ask as we are planning a speech or having a conversation with someone.

This is a very good response. You did a great job of mentioning how bias is sometimes a good thing especially when talking about personal experiences.

I agree with this Faye! Bias is almost always unavoidable because we all have our own opinions about things all the time.
