Chapter 6 Response

I believe that bias should be avoided when using support material. While researching for a project, you should be looking at both sides of the opinion. It can be easy to only look at sources that back up your opinion, but we should avoid this. When you acknowledge the other side of the opinion, it gives the speech credibility and value. It shows the audience that you know both sides, but you're still holding on to your belief. Although I think bias should be avoided, I also believe that it is hard to avoid when giving speeches. When a person is giving a speech, they're going to be strong about their opinion or beliefs and be biased towards what they think unintentionally. Overall, I believe that bias should be avoided but I also acknowledge that it's a thing we encounter regularly in our day to day lives.

This is a great response, Meghan! I love how you mentioned that the speakers bias sometimes unintentionally comes out. You used very good word choice.

This is a good response! I agree with the part that says that bias is hard to avoid. You have a really good choice of words.
