When discussing whether or not bias is always bad or unavoidable when using support material I think that while it should not always be used, it can sometimes not be avoidable. Some topics and discussions require at least the minimum amount of bias when choosing supporting materials. Most authors and writers will naturally choice supporting material that benefits them and biases to them. In situations where bias is needed to choose your supporting material I believe that is acceptable, but in situations where the supporting material needs to be straight fact and not leaning towards one side or the other I believe that bias would be unacceptable. So while yes, sometimes bias is acceptable, most of the time I believe it would be unacceptable when trying to find and use support material.
