Chapter 8 Response

I like to establish goodwill by relating my personal life to my speech. I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing for my demonstration speech, but hopefully, I'll be demonstrating something I've done many times before. I also think telling jokes or speaking on a level that your audience understands is a great way to establish goodwill. Also smiling can really connect an audience to a speaker! Establishing goodwill is about showing an audience that you are friendly, trustworthy, and on their side.

I definitely agree with adding jokes throughout a speech. They make speeches feel more comfortable and easy-going.

I agree with adding your personal life into a speech, it makes it more believable and easier to listen to. I also love the smiling, it makes it seem like you're not mad and you actually care about your topic.

I agree that adding something personal into your speech can establish goodwill toward your audience, because then they understand that this is not just something you are speaking about, but something you care about.
