Chapter 8 Response

To establish goodwill in my next speech, I am going to explain to the audience that they should listen because I am speaking about something because I have their best interests at heart. There is not point in a speech if the speaker doesn't care about the audience. It tunes them out. But if they do care about the audience, it helps them stay focused if they realize that the topic is applicable to them.

Yes, I agree. You can always tell when people have your best interest in heart and with that it will gain the trust of your audience.

I definitely agree that people tune out if they believe the speaker doesn't have their best interests at heart. It's always good to establish that credibility early on so you can keep the audience's attention.

I totally agree, Christian. As someone who has been an audience member before, it is easier to listen when you know that the speaker has a genuine care for the topic and you listening.

That is a great way to establish goodwill. Good point as well about it keeping the audience focused.
