Chapter 8 Response

A way to include an establishment of goodwill in my next speech could be to implement a story or anecdote to both get the listeners attention, but also establish why the topic is important to me as well as should be important to the audience. This sounds like it would just get the audience's attention, but showing them why you care whether or not they listen and why the topic of conversation has had an impact on your life shows the audience that you genuinely want them to care about it. It all comes down to how you adapt the speech to the audience as a way to show your care for them. I will in my next speech explain why my topic is important to them as well as to me and why I believe they should listen and truly understand what point I am trying to make.

The use of an anecdote would be helpful. It would give a real situation in which your skill that your demonstrating was necessary or useful.

I said something similar about how the topic should be something important to both the speaker and the audience! I like your idea of using an anecdote to engage the audience too!

I definitely think that a story can be so helpful when listening to a speech. It can keep the audience engaged while also showing them how the speaker relates to the topic.
