In order to establish goodwill in my next speech, I will explain to my audience why the topic is important to me and why it can be important to them as well. This will show the audience that I am thinking about them throughout my speech. I'll make it known that the speech isn't all about me but it's also for them. It will establish community because it could make them interested in my speech and they'll listen once they know it can mean something to them. When I give my audience reasons and explanations as to why my speech can mean something to them, they'll see that I have their best interests at heart.
Very good content and I agree totally with you that we have to find common ground with our audience, to let them know why it's important to you and to the audience.
