I think that having slideware in your presentation can be very helpful to the audience in this day and age. It helps people to have something to focus on during the speech, and it also gives them the opportunity to take notes from the slides. If you happen to zone out during a speech, you can just look at the slides to see where the speaker is currently at. If you want to have deeper discussions, without a slide show in the way, I think you should do that with a smaller audience or setting. Overall, a slideshow can capture the attention of a larger group.
