Playing with form or genre can be a risky thing. It either grabs the audience's attention and improves the delivery, or wrecks the speech entirely if not done correctly. The song "Nights" by Frank Ocean is a great example. The song starts off with an upbeat poppy melody, and then eventually turns into a slow song with piano in the background. I think that this attempt was extremely successful, and greatly enhances the song. Right when the listener gets comfortable, the tune switches completely. In my opinion, this pulls the listener in even more and causes them to be curious for what is next.

I agree with you on how you said that doing that will pull the listener in and it definitely works!

This was good! I loved how you talked about how he changed the tune right as the listener gets comfortable with the song.

I agree. I love when music artists completely change the genre right in the middle of their song. It's definitely different and unique, but I love it so much!

I love how you used an example of a song. I have heard this change many times in other songs, and I also agree that it draws in the audience and makes the song more interesting.

This was really good. I completely agree that "Nights" is a great example of playing with form and genre. I would also agree that it was very successful and it is one of my favorite songs to listen to. Great job!

I agree that playing with form can be risky. I like your example too. It was helpful in understanding the mix of form and genre and its effectiveness when done well.
