Delivery and body language can contradict the message of a speech. For example, a monotone delivery of a speech that the audience is passionate about does not match, and may even frustrate the audience as they desire for the speaker to show passion. Also, the passion keeps the audience engaged, so if you're delivering a persuasive speech in a monotone voice your audience may not be focused enough to hear and act on your call to action. Along with voice and volume, if you're slouching while giving a speech that contradicts your speech. Not using hand gestures or keeping them really small can also portray that you are not confident in your topic or just giving a speech. All of these examples of contradictions cause a negative impact on the audience, so it is best to avoid them.
