My brother once gave a speech as the best man at my brother's wedding. I believe he did a good job getting everything he wanted to say in a good amount of time. One of the expectations for this kind of speech is that it would be a decent length but not too long. Another expectation is that it would be heartfelt, and slightly funny. The jokes helped make the situation light and cheerful while still maintaining a sense of sobriety. My brother's best man speech was a perfect example of public speaking overall.
