I honestly didn't realize that cars cost that much nowadays. I have a Prius that I bought secondhand, so the cost was pretty cheap for me, but it also has a pretty expensive engine that would be a pain to replace if it ever broke down. It was interesting to learn about how the government has restricted our free market on cars, and now I wonder how that limits our development as a country and if it has any ripple effects. It's frustrating that choices made by the president in favor of a more free market can be so easily changed by the next president that comes along, stifling any progress that could have been made.
