Chapter 4

The author thinks that it ironic that products that were made to help the lower class people often hurt more than help.  He says that raising the minimum wage to 30$ would act as a price floor and cause businesses to cut jobs.  This can also cause them to cut benefits and hours.  This is ironic because it would hurt most low skilled young workers who are the exact people that it is intended to help.  As it regards to rent control, he says that freezing rent in 2015 only led to fewer apartments available.  This led to lower housing quality and rising rent.  Instead of improving housing, he argues that it made living conditions worse.  Overall, he believes both these policies should be helpful, but when you think more deeply, they end up hurting both the people they were made for.

This is great. I agree completely and found the same thing as I read the article. Some people don't look far enough into the future to see both the possible benefits but also the possible harm that could outweigh the good.
