The article states the possible new mayor of New York City (NYC), New York would want the minimum wage of NYC to reach up to $30 an hour. The author of the article finds this very ironic due to the fact that increasing something such as the minimum wage is stated to be done to help those who are disadvantaged and would be better for those who need money would in fact actually hurt and harm that group of people more and would actually create less jobs and bring large sums of unemployment to the city. Regarding the rent control placed in 2015, the benefits have actually gone down. What was meant for good intended to be more harm than good just adding to the irony of wanting to try a similar aspect with the minimum wage in NYC. Overall, raising the minimum wage that much would not be an economically good decision and would in fact create more problems instead of solving them.
