irony in price control

Mamdani's price control idea for New York City is pretty ironic. He claims the goal is to help people make more money, especially the lower class. However, if he does enact these ideas it will only hurt the economy and the lower class. It will hurt the economy because companies will not hire low paying jobs if they have to pay them 30 bucks and hour, they will just change the responsibilities of someone already on staff and they will fire people to keep their budget for the employees the same. With the rent control, it will limit housing and more people will struggle to find places to live if he does place a rent ceiling. It makes sense that some regular citizens do not know the economical problems by these new policies, but as politicians you should be well educated on economics so that the people that vote for you will be benefited and not harmed. In conclusion it is ironic how politicians claim one thing, but in fact the opposite will occur if their policies are put in place.
