Due to the fact that the AMA was wanting to raise medical standards for good reasons it actually backfires on them and results in a less efficient result. For instance, if medical standards arise for doctors then the level that doctors must study and work they must do to be qualified also goes up. This results in less students being committed to finish the schooling and studying, because of both the time and financial commitment it is. While I agree that medical standards should be held to a certain point, there has to be a point of maximum standards, such as the tax revenue curve, where the benefit is equal with the cost and it is at its most efficient point.

I agree with this. When the standards are raised, it actually makes things less efficient. The commitment to becoming a doctor becomes much higher, and in some cases not worth the cost.
