Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

*How is the book of Acts “piercing” your soul and spirit?

*Let this be a devotional that speaks of what God is doing in you.  This is more than an academic exercise.

You will write a devo. for each of these sections (1-5, 6-10, 11-17, 18-28):

  1. Objective: Create a stand-alone devotional.

  2. Select your passage and theme/truth to emphasize.

Examples:

Acts 1 - Ascension, Purpose-Place-Promise from Jesus, Waiting.

2 - Pentecost, Prayer, 1st Sermon, Church’s Birthday, Church Habits

3 - Almsgiving, sharing the faith

4 - boldness, obedience to God vs man, generosity

5 - lies-deception, Holy Spirit power, witnessing.

Requirements:
1. Introduction: brief story, question, stat, attention grabber. Make the reader want to read you devo.

2. Transition: “In our passage today…”  “In the book of Acts…”

3. Teaching: Explain passage and theme that relates to your intro.

4. Key Statement: “Here’s what you must understand (one big idea)”

Application: What to do as a result of this truth…
-how will they live differently (heart, mind, action?)
5. Prayer

Goal: 250-400 words

Save all your Acts devos in a Google Doc titled “ActsDevo_name”
