I believe that using slides or presentations on the screen is an incredibly useful tool. As I did in my previous speech reading The Fall of The House of Usher, it is a great way to help the audience follow along with what you are sharing or reading, in my case. In some cases, of course, slides can be a bit distracting when they are incorrectly put together or slide changes are timed wrong. It is all about knowing what to put on your slides, how much, how many slides, and the level of creativeness you put into your slideshow; in this case, less is better. Whether this be less creative fonts and colors or, in general, less information or graphics on the screen when your speech is already not a very lengthy, in depth speech. Having presentation aids helps to engage the body as well as encouraging retention while the speaker is presenting.
