Chapter 9/10 Response

Chapter 9/10 Response

If a speaker is talking about a personal experience that made them joyful, but the whole time they are presenting their story, they have a gloomy, smug look on their face, then it can confuse the audience. They can begin to wonder if their story was actually joyful, or if it was all a lie and made up. Body communication, especially in the face, can be misleading at times. To improve this as a speaker, it is important to be conscious of your stance and how you look to your audience for your speech.

Yes I agree. If they say one thing but their body language says another, it can come off as confusing, dishonest, or misleading.

I agree and I have experienced people telling a story about something that should be exciting but they are dull and have low energy and it has an impact for sure.

This makes so much sense, body language is a huge part of the speech.

I love this and I think this a great example that is unfortunately quite common especially among younger people who are new to public speaking. Love that you showed the downside but also how to improve that. Keep up the good work!

I like how you presented the issue, confronted it, and then explained how to improve it. Body communication is a really big part of speaking in public and it can either make or break your audiences.

I agree. Body language can really throw off what the true message is meaning to convey.

I like how you portrayed this as the audience percieving the speakers clothes as a conscious and meaningful desicion that should reflect the tone of the speech.

When I was reading this, I pictured a speaker with a furrowed brow, trying to give a speech over something comedic, but it did not hit well with the audience because he looked angry the entire speech.
