Contradicting Yourself

Imagine you are giving a persuasive speech about donating to a cause. Your goal is to convince the audience to get fired up and donate, but your presentation isn't fired up at all. Your audience asks why they should get fired up for something you don't seem to even care about? Thus, you contradict the entire point of your speech and fail to persuade them. When giving a speech, you need to work on your vocalics and body language in order to get your point across. You need to know how to deliver it in a way that sparks emotion in the audience. If you were to give a speech mourning the loss of a loved one, you would need to prepare how you would respond to that scenario. A solemn speech that highlights the memories made would work great, but a speech celebrating why grandma is now the oldest in the family might get you excommunicated from the family.

Great job first of all! Secondly, I love your example, it was easy to follow and made plenty of sense. Good job bringing in how to improve your speech and not just saying what might be wrong with it.

Great example! It got your point across well and helped me to better understand that contradictions in tone and delivery can really harm the overall goal of a speech. I also liked how you mentioned that the delivery should reflect the emotion you are trying to convey in the speech. That is a good guideline to follow.

Yes, your energy has to add up with the speech that you are giving.

Good use of the vocabulary. I liked the use of vocalics in the response. The example you used was good and very efficient in why delivery and body language is important to a speech.
